Nvidia is a corporation specializing in graphics processors and embedded processors.[1] With more than 100,000 employees, in the United States alone, Nvidia is the largest GPU manufacturer, closely followed by AMD.[2]
The company was founded in 1993, by Jensen Huang, Chris Malachowsky and Curtis Priem. Two years later, they launched their first product, the NVIDIA NV1. This PCI card, labeled the Diamond Edge 3D, used a 2D/3D graphics core based on quadratic texture mapping. The first game to be supported by this card was Sega's Virtual Fighter.[3]
Controversies
Nvidia has been accused of copying, ad verbim, ATI's architectures, such as the 1950xt and their 4800 series, as well as some older cards such as the ATI RAGE, copied into the Nvidia GeForce 9001 series.[4] It has also been accused of recycling it's designs, and simply renaming them.[5]
"Creative accounting"
Nvidia provides equity capital to an entity that exists primarily to purchase Nvidia products. The transaction appears as an arms-length sale in Nvidia’s accounting, but in reality, Nvidia is funding its own revenue.[6]
https://www.conservapedia.com/NvidiaThe GeForce 400 series is a series of graphics processing units developed by Nvidia , serving as the introduction of the Fermi microarchitecture . Its release was originally slated in November 2009, [ 2 ] however, after delays, it was released on March 26, 2010, with availability following in April 2010.
Its direct competitor was ATI 's Radeon HD 5000 series .
Architecture
Nvidia described the Fermi microarchitecture as the next major step in its line of GPUs following the Tesla microarchitecture used since the G80 . The GF100, the first Fermi-architecture product, is large: 512 stream processors , in sixteen groups of 32, and 3.0 billion transistors, manufactured by TSMC in a 40 nm process. It is Nvidia's first chip to support OpenGL 4.0 and Direct3D 11 . No products with a fully enabled GF100 GPU were ever sold. The GTX 480 had one streaming multiprocessor disabled. The GTX 470 had two streaming multiprocessors and one memory controller disabled. The GTX 465 had five streaming multiprocessors and two memory controllers disabled. Consumer GeForce cards came with 256MB attached to each of the enabled GDDR5 memory controllers, for a total of 1.5, 1.25 or 1.0GB; the Tesla C2050 had 512MB on each of six controllers, and the Tesla C2070 had 1024MB per controller. Both the Tesla cards had fourteen active groups of stream processors.

The Vanta LT was a graphics card by NVIDIA, launched on March 1st, 2000. Built on the 250 nm process, and based on the NV6 graphics processor, in its Vanta LT variant, the card supports DirectX 6.0. Since Vanta LT does not support DirectX 11 or DirectX 12, it might not be able to run all the latest games. The NV6 graphics processor is a relatively small chip with a die area of only 63 mm2 and 15 million transistors. It features 2 pixel shaders and 0 vertex shaders, 2 texture mapping units, and 2 ROPs. Due to the lack of unified shaders you will not be able to run recent games at all (which require unified shader/DX10+ support). NVIDIA has paired 8 MB SDR memory with the Vanta LT, which are connected using a 64-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 105 MHz, memory is running at 100 MHz. Being a single-slot card, the NVIDIA Vanta LT does not require any additional power connector, its power draw is not exactly known. Display outputs include: 1x VGA. Vanta LT is connected to the rest of the system using an AGP 2x interface.

Video card launches are usually accompanied by considerable amounts of fanfare—witness Nvidia's release last week of its new top-of-the-line GeForce GTX 580. But that's not the case today: Nvidia has quietly launched yet another card in its Fermi family: the GeForce GTX 460 SE.
As its name suggests, this card is a variant of the popular GTX 460, which Nvidia released this past summer. (And which AMD challenged with the Radeon HD 6850, one of the first two cards in its 6000 series.) It combines certain features of both the 768MB and 1GB versions of the GTX 460.
Most of the differences between the GTX 460 SE and its predecessors are in terms of degree. The 768MB version of the GTX 460 has 336 CUDA cores, a graphics clock running at 675 MHz, and a processor clock running at 1,350 MHz; the GTX 460 SE has 288 CUDA cores, a 650-MHz graphics clock, and a 1,300-MHz processor clock. And though the GTX 460 SE has a wider memory interface than its 768MB predecessor (256-bit versus 192-bit), it has 1GB of frame buffer (like a higher-end version of the original GTX 460) and runs at 3.4 Gbps.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This list contains general information about graphics processing units (GPUs) and video cards from Nvidia , based on official specifications. In addition some Nvidia motherboards come with integrated onboard GPUs. Limited/special/collectors' editions or AIB versions are not included. Please do not edit the tables to match your specific AIB model.
Field explanations
The fields in the table listed below describe the following:
Model – The marketing name for the processor, assigned by Nvidia.
Launch Date – Date of release for the processor.
Code Name – The internal engineering codename for the processor (typically designated by an NVXY name and later GXY where X is the series number and Y is the schedule of the project for that generation).
Fab – Fabrication process. Average feature size of components of the processor.
Bus interface – Bus by which the graphics processor is attached to the system (typically an expansion slot, such as PCI, AGP, or PCI-Express).
Memory – The amount of graphics memory available to the processor.
Base Clock – The factory core clock frequency; while some manufacturers adjust clocks lower and higher, this number will always be the reference clocks used by Nvidia.
Memory Clock – The factory effective memory clock frequency (while some manufacturers adjust clocks lower and higher, this number will always be the reference clocks used by Nvidia). All DDR/GDDR memories operate at half this frequency, except for GDDR5, which operates at one quarter of this frequency.
Core Config – The layout of the graphics pipeline, in terms of functional units. Over time the number, type, and variety of functional units in the GPU core has changed significantly; before each section in the list there is an explanation as to what functional units are present in each generation of processors. In later models, shaders are integrated into a unified shader architecture, where any one shader can perform any of the functions listed.
Fillrate – Maximum theoretical fill rate in textured pixels per second. This number is generally used as a maximum throughput number for the GPU and generally, a higher fill rate corresponds to a more powerful (and faster) GPU.
Memory subsection Bandwidth – Maximum theoretical bandwidth for the processor at factory clock with factory bus width. GHz = 10 9 Hz. Bus type – Type of memory bus or buses used. Bus width – Maximum bit width of the memory bus or buses used. This will always be a factory bus width.

API support section Direct3D – Maximum version of Direct3D fully supported. OpenGL – Maximum version of OpenGL fully supported. OpenCL – Maximum version of OpenCL fully supported. Vulkan – Maximum version of Vulkan fully supported. CUDA - Maximum version of Cuda fully supported.
Direct3D – Maximum version of Direct3D fully supported.
